Forgive me if I’ve mentioned this here before, but: I met her once, briefly, and not only is she an amazing human being, but she’s the only person I’ve ever seen in real life with a radiance around her, like she stepped out of a Renaissance painting of a saint or something.

I respect her so much. She has some very biting things to say about purity culture in general and it is wonderful.

Barkely regretted not taking the fight, but he noted that the hotel bar wasn’t on the second floor. Otherwise he would have thrown the man out the window.

(security was called, and the man was removed).

Was that fan not aware that of any former professional basketball player, Charles Barkley is the one who has actually thrown someone through a plate glass window, and when asked by the judge if he had any regrets, said yes, I wish I had been on a higher floor?

Should have challenged him to a round of golf.

“Sometimes people are dismissive if I admit stuff has happened, or they’re dismissive if it hasn’t.”

I need all the help I can get!

Don’t let them off the hook by calling them dumb. They aren’t dumb. They are smart. They live in a bubble and it doesn’t occur to them that that shirt is offensive because they don’t know anyone in real life who would think that shirt is offensive and they don’t consume any media about anyone who doesn’t look like

THIS. If I suspect a movie/show will contain a sexual assault scene I’ll ask around for confirmation. If it does, I’ll skip it, don’t care how good the rest of it is.

I read an awesome discussion of treatment of rape scenes. In Outlander (sorry, I love it) there were two attempted rapes back to back (!) and one was directed by a man, one a woman. In the male directed scene, there’s all kinds of T&A, with improbable positioning to get the most out of the forced nudity. It’s also all

People are fucking weird. This was HILARIOUS. And all the more so by how many complete cringe worthy moments there were, of all these media people being entirely unable to laugh at them selves. Did you guys see Blitzer’s face?? If eyes could kill, Larry would be dead. Dead, I tell ya.

No that wouldn’t have been the right thing to do. The right thing is exactly what he did, tell the truth. That doesn’t make it the BEST thing to do for everyone involved, but right is fairly cut and dry in that situation. What you are advocating is no different than police officers protecting each other by omitting

Thank you. I’ve already had my references report emails and phone calls from one job I applied for earlier today, so things aren’t looking terribly bleak.

“GLORY BOY trying to show up his pitcher by throwing it that fast! If Jonathan Papelbon was on his team, he’d light him up and show him the Right Way!”

“Look at this guy showing off, showing up the game. We used to hit the cutoff man or two bounce that to home plate in my day!”

A lot of what’s referred to as “PC” nowadays is just people not being retrograde sociopaths.

They come from a long tradition of brutal exploitation, so many people do not trust this new raison d’etre.

Intentional, systematic transgressions over the course of decades is different from a momentary loss of judgment.

I’m not even shocked by this. I’ve seen black women followed around my city’s Zara like the were wearing cat burglar suits.
