I was 17 and closeted when this came out. I vividly remember watching it one night when I was babysitting my brother and my parents were out, and being so scared they would come home or my brother would wake up and EVERYONE WOULD KNOW WHY I WAS WATCHING.

Every time he tweets, he loses more followers, until he’s finally just tweeting into the void.

I weaseled out of a few tickets, but these were my favorites:

Agreed. It’s a stretch but this is sort of like making cars more aerodynamic for gas mileage. Toyota might have really pushed it hard with the Prius, but other companies ran with the idea as well, because it’s the next logical iteration and it’s going to be invented/attempted by anyone in that space.

This is the greatest thing I’ve read on the internet so far today. Might as well sign off on a high note. Well done!

This is clearly a combo of price and availability. I can find a dozen Leafs for under 20k in my area, but Bolts aren’t being sold here yet.

FWIW I live in NJ and lived in MA for many years, plus have been in Maine in below zero weather, and ALWAY set my parking brake, and have never had an issue. I joked I started it with my old Sentra because it was so light I worried a gentle breeze might blow it down a hill, but it’s pretty much automatic for me-stop

Man I feel for that kid. I (apparently) sobbed as a toddler when my parents traded in their bright yellow Datsun. The ugly gold Datsun they had next wasn’t the same.

Holland Taylor is fucking phenomenal.

I majored in philosophy, because I had no concept of what was needed to function in the real world. My senior year of college, the philosophy dept threw together an event where we could hear from successful graduates. One of the speakers went from getting his degree in philosophy to heading to clown school.

YES! I also think that if you’re a two car household, you don’t need two huge cars...one small enough for quick trips, and one that can be used for longer rides/more safety focused.

I’m guessing the administration knew, as did the teachers whose classes he attended, but teachers monitoring the halls/cafeteria/study hall might not have been specifically told “THIS IS AN ACTOR PRETENDING TO BE A HS KID”, because it was probably done on a need-to-know basis, otherwise it would have been three days

I have said many times if I ever meet Paul Ryan, all I want is for him to explain how Ayn Rand’s economic theory actually works, because I’ve read all her books and I STILL DONT GET IT.

We did it at the time because we were traveling with a 2 yr old. I guess I wasn’t super clear-we didn’t need all of us to board, but one of us did to make sure it was clear of food debris before the kiddo came on board. Easier to have one of us (or, in the case of Southwest, just have all of us) come on and do it

In some very severe cases, people can be allergic enough to peanuts that they can’t be in a confined space with them (where even peanut dust can cause a severe reaction).

The pretzels were sealed, they wanted us to double check them in the package before serving them to the rest of the cabin. :)

Holy shit. That’s crazy...the two times we used Southwest they were great. Shit.

IIRC, I looked up the wholesale cost of the battery and it was listed as $250+, at least at the time (this was probably 5 or 6 years ago). It’s very likely the costs have come down, or that the 3rd gen prius used a more expensive battery.

Yep. It might be an NYC thing, but (according to my wife), there’s an option in the app to ask for a carseat equipped Uber...they take a few extra minutes, but it makes life MUCH easier when they’re taking the train into the city.

Chiming in here on the allergy thing-almost all airlines will accommodate as best they can, as long as the accommodations you need are reasonable and don’t require much from the airline.
