The game appears to be in Santa Clara … and on a Thursday. That should probably cut down on most tailgating.

There are 74 episodes available on Shout Factory TV. It’s less than half of the complete, classic series, but it’s a legit way to watch them. It’s also good because Shout Factory is the one producing the new episodes (and released the older ones on DVD).

According to the schedule, most of the activity before the actual start of the games is training (particularly for skiing events and luge). Freestyle skiing is holding qualifiers Friday, while the figure skating team events begin Friday but neither of those are medal events.

On the Bounty Select-A-Size paper towels, can you please provide a link to a 20-pack? I can’t seem to find any such thing on the Walmart site.

In the league I participate in, we refer to the position as vice or vice skip.

Have you actually been curling? Sweeping ain’t a walk in the park. A 2006 Journal of Sports Science and Medicine article noted that the average heartrate during hard sweeping is 170 beats per minute.

I don’t know the answer, although I imagine tradition plays a factor. Regarding why it’s still in place today, sweeping and certain takeouts do require physical strength so there may be some differences there.

The U.S. Olympic Trials for men’s and women’s curling took place over about a week. There was round-robin play for five to six days (a tie-breaker game was needed on the sixth day to determine who was going to play Shuster in the playoffs). The best-of-three playoffs were spread over days 6, 7 and 8.

Now playing

I loved the “3-2-1 Contact” theme song — it’s my ringtone. I also agree about “Square One Television,” although we should also tip our hat to the theme song to “The Bloodhound Gang” segments on “3-2-1 Contact.”

Uh, I think the situation is that the racetrack was sold to Stan Kroenke and the Rams organization. The Chargers are only going to be tenants in the Rams’ stadium, IIRC.

What happens when the hunters encounter the house? Do they kill it and mount its corpse on the wall?

See… So, Seeya.

Frinkiac and Morbotron are going to be working overtime when the AV Club moves to Kinja.

For all the griping about Disqus and Kinja, Facebook Comments is the worst. I moderated a site that had FB comments and the app broke so we couldn't actually moderate comments. That was fun.

You'll find out when AV Club moves to Kinja…

The purchase of Gawker included the Kinja platform. If it's a viable publishing platform, it makes sense for Univision to get its sites on it as opposed to taking the time and expense to maintain multiple platforms.

Oh, hilarious. I just Googled the name and got a punk rock band.

Apparently Disqus is glitching on this discussion so comments that were previously visible may not be right now.

Sorry about that. A lot of posters are understandably saying goodbye even as this discussion continues. Hopefully we can see you at some of the other discussion sites, like AV Club After Dark or Tolerability Index.

I visited the site, but I think I only clicked on one of the bacon-related articles. The only thing I remember from that time is the naturally hardwood smoked smell of Hormel Black Label Bacon.
