Dear God. Baseball speculation is now on to cycles that are further away than presidential elections. Harper still has 3.5 years left on his deal. Ridiculous. F*** the Yankees.
I mentioned this in another Finals column today, but he is so angry. Watch his post-games this series. He absolutely hates what’s happened to his team, and what it’s forced him to do. The last thing you want right now is to give this guy more ammo.
Columbus has actually done reasonably well the past few years now that they ice a half-decent team.
Dear NBC Executives:
Nope, it’s not just you. It sure seemed like he was playing to the crowd - what else would motivate him to keep running like that after such a blistering first half, with nobody around and nothing but a hand ride?
He would be 2 full seconds ahead of any other horse who ever ran the Belmont.
Someone (formerly) in the industry here :)
And Sham was a cousin of Secretariat’s. In the shorter races he was close to secretariat. He ripped out two of his teeth on the gate at the derby and still came within 2 1/2 lengths of Secretariat, their times were the fastest and second fastest derby times ever (depending on how you round the older times).
Watching Sham, a tremendous horse who would have been a triple crown contender any other year, in the Belmont is amazing. He ran with Secretariat for half the race, and got beat by 50 lengths. That is what happens to a normal horse when it tries to run at that pace for a mile and a half.
I didn’t realize this until a few minutes ago, but that was the first time in franchise history the Cavs have won an NBA Finals game. I know Cleveland fans can be obnoxious, but can you blame them? Fuck, man. That’s rough.
Makes you wonder what Sham’s legacy would’ve been if he’d only been a year older or younger.
Secretariat was still accelerating when he crossed the finished line. That entire race is just freakin’ unbelievable.
Being second to Secretariat is an honor.
Can't wait to see what Dee Mirich writes about this.
“Just what kind of courage is Jenner showing?” said the angry pitchfork-wielding mob that scorned and hated a person for revealing her true identity.
She’s on Twitter, too!
16 year old me: “Ugh I got up too early and now I have to sit through Outside the Lines before we get to the good stuff — the SPORTS REPORTERS!”
As a kid, I always thought he was the boring, Teddy Ruxpin-looking motherfucker. Now, as an adult, I realize he’s one of the best reporters they’ve got there and is one of the few journalists working at ESPN that I actually think has serious integrity and talent.
