I loved this photo as soon as I saw it. But I love anything showing the Obamas living their best life free from white people’s nonsense.
He’s doing no such thing. This is Negotiation (Security) Theater. “Closing up” the weapons testing site, regardless of how damaged it is, is an easily reversible decision in a matter of days.
Well, they may be banking on the Trump administration sensing an opportunity and letting it go a little less strict on the total denuclearization preconditions, or the timeline in which it could occur. There’s really innumerable scenarios here and I’m not sure we know precisely what they’re gonna want or do.
I bought Luke and Lorelai as a couple. She had parent issues and some of the time he was a low-key coper who took care of her, which she wanted. But agree about the show’s weird attitude about the people of Stars Hollow and *especially* Rory. On the one hand, the show’s depiction of her is kind of psychologically…
I didn’t mind Luke and Lorelai getting together but having put them together I did mind the soap opera secret child nonsene being used to break them up again. At least the mini-break because of Christopher was a bit less goofy.
Now that you put it that way, it’s ironic that Lorelai is special because she ran away from her stultifying privileged life to the quirky small town, yet Rory is special because she got out of that small town into the privileged environment of Yale.
Yes, let’s talk about how he doesn’t look like Brian May at all.
You know I’m actually curious to see what you think ‘acting’ like a Parsi entails. Because I know a LOT of Parsis. And I have a feeling that not only do you not know any Parsis, you also have zero idea about the culture or know any actor who is a Parsi. Seriously name one. I know you’ll google the name, but still.
How do you know they didn’t? Also you never answered my earlier question.
Freddie Mercury is one of (in my opinion THE) greatest rock vocalists ever, which was clearly always going to be a huge challenge in making this movie. I’ve got to hope that they thought about this early and came up with a solution, because having some actor who can sing well enough do it was never going to cut it…
He won’t give you an answer. Because there aren’t any notable ones that resemble Freddie Mercury. And I’d like to sincerely tell him, from an actual Gujarati with Parsi relatives and friends to kindly fuck off with his performative wokeness.
Tell me, which Parsi actor will play this role? I’m a Gujarati myself with a half Parsi cousin and I grew up near a Parsi-dominated area in Mumbai so I know a shit ton about the culture and actors who are Parsi... there aren’t many. Unless you think Boman Irani should play the part. I mean he’s a great actor but not…
Part of the reason I loved that old, overdramatic TV movie about the Tempations is, even though I like their music, I have NO FUCKING CLUE what any of those guys looked like, which made suspension of disbelief very easy.
thought I was the only one...genuinely hope they don’t have this poor bloke sing because how could you ever hope to compare. I know Phoenix did the Johnny Cash songs but this is a different stratosphere. *I* can do a decent “Folsom Prison Blues” if I don’t have to play the guitar. Tried to do Queen’s “Somebody to…
every white man in America under 40 looked like that from 1972-1980, if my family photo albums are to be taken as indicative
Is it more important that the actor be Parsi or that he resemble Freddie? If it’s more important that the actor be Parsi, aren’t you falling into “all Parsi’s are interchangeable” trap?
I think you could, charitably, say that he looks like someone going as Freddie Mercury for Halloween, to the point where someone could recognize who he’s supposed to be without being told.
Right. For that ‘perfect’ picture there should be at least a few less than ideal shots to offer up for legitimacy.
