It’s actually the opposite. While Chicago does have a lot of violent crime, the per capita murder rate is lower than many other cities. The link I cited illustrates it pretty well.

In all seriousness, Chicago’s murder rate isn’t the worst in the country. It’s high, sure, but several other major cities have much higher rates.
