Gah, I am sorry to hear that.. I will be thinking of you on Thanksgiving!

She said the company received feedback last year that many of its employees "appreciated the opportunity to work on Thanksgiving so they could have time off on Black Friday," as well as the additional pay they receive for working a holiday. For any shift that begins on Thursday, employees will be paid time-and-a-half.

I also heard that she got a perfect score on the verbal part of her SATs. She is a really smart girl.

I'm lucky my kids aren't that into Frozen. I braided my hair in pigtails and wore a hat last week, and of course the first goddamn comment a student in my kid's class was 'your mommy looks like Anna from Frozen'.

That is fucking amazing! Why wouldn't they make you a Rose costume?

I was going to say, I'm pretty sure I owned that top when I was in the 7th grade. Add a plastic lace choker and she'd be the spitting image of early '00s.

Exactly. And pleather is so 2000. I had way too many pairs of pleather pants for my own good.

That was my thought too. Everything about this is awful. Also $50 for pleather anything is awful.

I do. I have no sense of modesty. I also do yoga in my backyard in booty shorts and a tank top. =

It was funny my husband saw a status that said "One case of Ebola comes to the US and everyone's stocking up on masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer. AIDS has been in the US for thirty years and we still can't get y'all to use a condom".

Ugh, complaints can be the worst. My boss' job is specifically to handle complaints. When she isn't there, I take over. Some complaints are valid (like the CNA who wanted to put a completely cognizant 38-year old rotator cuff patient in diapers so it would be less work for her) but others are ridiculous. One

It's so bad out there. And this poor food bank has just gotten so battered in the past year as well. First, the pipes burst in their storehouse, destroying their dry goods. Then, their refrigeration unit broke. Then, a truck carrying food to one of their rural outposts overturned. It's been bad year for them.

The thing I don't get is the gamers who get mad when they other people are doing their own thing. I'm personally fine with games that have a lot of T&A as long as they are marketed to mature audiences and are not the only thing available. I really don't want to hear about how my game with an awesome female archer who

It is a tough business but it is frustrating from an outsider's point of view. There were kids who were literally skin and bones and their parents refused to take food for them. On one hand, you want to respect the dignity of others but on the other hand you want to intervene. It's a tough call.

It goes back to the Gilded Age ideas of poverty as a moral failing. It's foolish. And how anyone in their right mind could want children to go hungry is beyond me.

That's true. This morning's breakfast was waffles and a fruit salad with a glass of milk. I don't think I ever got a hot breakfast growing up, even if my parents could afford it.

It is awesome and apparently awesome for the teachers too since they don't have to worry about kids coming to school hungry and not being able to focus.

I can't deal with it either. Especially since my husband and I grew up with such immense economic privilege and we see how many of our friends post the 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps', National Review type stuff.

That is the worst. My friend was part of a missionary trip to Honaker, KY - a former coal mining town that was without paved roads, running water, and electricity. They accepted help with fixing up houses but would not accept the truckload of clothes, food, toiletries, shoes, etc. that were badly needed because they

It is astounding. I live in SC, and our county is purple overall but solid blue in my city. The school district received a grant from the federal government that allows all the children at my son's elementary school to receive free breakfast, regardless of income. It's an amazing plan. Of course people in the red part
