I don’t see this article as a tacit approval of piracy. I see it as a tacit condemnation of Nintendo’s archaic exclusivity policies and inferior hardware. Nintendo makes a lot of great games. However, they’re always confined to subpar hardware. If their games already look and run so much better on PC emulators,

It is, but I find it supremely silly that you are saying that if the game doesn’t sell well then it will be because of a kotaku article.

Won’t somebody think of the greedy unfriendly to its undeservingly loyal player base corporation???

While I agree with you, the article promotes emulation of the Switch hardware rather than pirating the game. While even that is kinda sketchy, console emulation for Nintendo systems has been the ‘it’ thing for the high definition enthusiasts since the Wii era. Wii and WiiU games in particular sometimes received

I already have a Switch that’s collecting dust.

I’m saying this mainly in jest (and to be a little pedantic), but my smart phone is 4k, and has the library of the Play store. :D

I think the expectation was a 1080p screen in handheld mode with 4k output

There was a difference with HD TV. Not only was the difference in picture much more noticable, but the form factor played a big role. It was the first time people could actually watch widescreen shows in widescreen at home.

pro tip: it’s a difference you won’t notice until you watch a 4k movie on a 4k screen then switch back. A bit like going between DVD and VHS back in the day.

You really need a TV of 65/75 or larger to actually see a significant difference.

I can BIG TIME see the difference. HD looks muddy and 4K HDR has sharp vivid clarity.

I could already hold it comfortably far from my face before (in my lap even, no problems) it’s the same issue I have with giant 85 inch tvs going into living rooms where the couch is only 8 feet from the tv. the pixel density just isn’t there so instead everyone has a worse experience with a more expensive product.

certainly makes me feel better about getting my switch a month ago, a bigger blurrier screen is not something I’m interested in.

Capitalism makes a better case for socialism than socialism ever could.”

Call it what it is: late stage capitalism.

To be fair he always looks squirmy.

He looks like British royalty.

He looks like Beaker from the Muppets only with boundary issues.

Thomas Middleditch is what you’d get if you asked someone to draw a caricature of a white man running a pick-up artist seminar at a gaming convention.

He looks like a poorly shaved garden gnome with a pituitary gland disorder.
