It’s important that POC try to sit down and show patience and understanding as to WHY those nice men in white sheets are burning crosses on their lawns. I’m sure it’s just their “economic anxiety” talking. /s

But that immigration policy was nonetheless the cornerstone of his campaign and the rally cry for his followers. So sorry, no. If they voted for him they either agreed or didn’t care because it didn’t affect them.
Yeah, the same people who spent the last four years droning on about Obama and Killary are now saying it’s our duty as citizens to come together and support the president. I don’t think so.
You mean Michigan? She was there as were her surrogates. Pennsylvania? There. Wisconsin? There. But, sure, stay on the economic message. Because who wants to admit that it was racism? Even racists don’t like being called out for it. Only White Supremacists are comfortable being called racists. Other racists like to be…
“They are upset the factories went to China”
Well prepare yourselves for “We are all Americans. It’s time to unite. Respect the presidency.” Just like they did (not). Hence my name. I will not respect that doddering, demented fool. He’s got early onset something (or maybe it’s just onset) and he’s lazy and he’s surrounded by even bigger assholes than he is. And…
Its an interesting thing to look at the exit polls and see what people actually thought about immigration.
I absolutely see what you’re saying. I don’t mean we should welcome racism into the party platform! That would be unacceptable.
While you may be right about the causes of Tuesday’s defeat, I’m not entirely sold that treating racism with kid gloves is the way forward for the Democratic Party. I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but the SNL skit of Black Jeopardy that aired shortly before the election hit the nail on the head- the blue collar white…
You’re right. Those Americans care so fucking much about the economy they elected a man whose sole claim to being capable of sound economic policy is his business acumen, yet who needed his father’s money and connections to have any success in the New York real estate, and who then ran his business enterprise so far…
No, that’s not what happened.
The people who voted for Trump are not the same people who voted for Obama. Hillary lost, in part, because plenty of Democratic voters in crucial swing states simply sat out the election. They didn’t vote for Trump, they just didn’t vote at all.
Yep. It’s actually pretty terrifying to see so many “progressives” insist that this lose is all because the feminists and the minorities were too uppity and upset the poor white people with their labels (how’s that for PC shaming...) I keep hearing over and over that we have to appeal to the poor rural voters...…
As someone smarter than me said: if you voted for Trump, it doesn’t mean you’re racist. But it does mean you think being racist doesn’t disqualify someone from office.
The lack of concern about the outright racism from so called progressives and otherwise sane folks is truly disturbing, as is the idea that the rest of us are to blame for not making all the racists feel welcome. There’s some meme going around that hits the nail on the head, saying “I don’t like coffee” is totally up…
Probably doesn’t help, but statistically only half of the white women you know actually voted, so it’s only a quarter that would have voted Trump.
“They’re just pissed at having been displaced by globalization!”- they still live right where they were clearly not ‘displaced’
My parents live in South Jersey and are originally from Philly. She called me ranting and raving about what’s going on in Philly. She is scared for my brother, who just got a new job in Delaware and will be driving back and forth every day. And his office is full of Trump people.
I am so so sorry. This must be so triggering for him - please know he is getting internet hugs. As are you, and anyone else who needs them right now.
“This was how it started”
