i also have to say that mg/shotgun did get more use in q3 than in quakelive because it's easier to stack ammo in ql. that's one thing i miss from q3 :<

shotgun and mg are used to finish off your opponent.

talented players play pickup games/scrims and duel. if you're playing clan arena or ffa, you're probably not going to see any talented players. contrary to popular belief, there are a lot of casuals who play quakelive.
