This a million times.
This a million times.
That’s my biggest issue with this. Publicly shaming someone for an STI only sends the message to other people that could be dealing with one that they are disgusting and unlovable. Like, girl, you have chlamydia too.
Luckily, my significant other has encouraged me to keep a cool head.
I got one in August of 2013 and I’m still not out of the woods legally, and that was after getting a diversion. Not saying that I deserved any more leniency than I already got but I'm being effectively conditioned to never do it again.
whoops redacted cause I replied to the wrong person
In high school we used to sneak the old wheat rolls that lacked preservatives and were therefore “a liability” out to the women’s shelter and just not tell them which restaurant they came from. They never asked either.
I get that, but I also think the term “womanist” is a sort of shots fired. To someone who doesn’t understand the two terms to hear women arguing “feminism v. womanism” sounds absurd. But I also live in the Midwest so I'm surrounded by detractor's.
I understand the topic actually, and admitted in another post that I have some blinders on because I choose to understand feminism as theory, but in practice some people can really fuck it up. It upsets me I guess because feminism is already this sort of dirty word in our cultural lexicon and when people who…
I think you’ve very eloquently described something that I agree with, and I do understand the motivation behind developing a term that you feel better encompasses your belief system. I guess I still kind of like to think of feminism in its theoretical form, not the form it’s taken when misunderstood by people who call…
I understand why people make the differentiation, but I think it keeps people at arms length, blaming each other instead of working towards being inclusive. Feminism has its problems, for sure, but theoretically there shouldn’t be any differentiation among race, gender, etc. I just think it makes enemies out of women…
I can’t take “womanist” or “humanist” or any of that parsing terms to minutely describe where you're political ideals lie seriously. It detracts from the greater conversation and puts the focus on language. It keeps people who agree with each other fighting over the details instead of rallying support together. It's…
So it's not old when it pertains to you but is when it doesn't? Got it.
Oh, I am in total agreement. Her routine was so unique and endearing and hilarious to boot. Did she do “Little Nippy Titty”?
Yes, and unpopular opinion time, I went to the oddball comedy fest this summer and her set was one of my least favorites. I think she does best when given a medium she has full control over with time to cultivate what she's really trying to say. Aka this book should be great.
I find that as long as you don't pair the chacos with white dreadlocks their practicality far outweighs any judgment that may be leveled your way.
How about a story where an asshole owner’s wife sinks too much time and energy into yelp reviews?
Skyla has cause some hormonal acne around my chin and mouth but nothing that ever made it to full-blown breakout. That was only for the first month tho.
Very true. And they can be especially troubling for immunocompromised people. It's just annoying that herpes is the most stigmatized STI to what essentially amounts to genital chicken pox for most people.
True. That, the prevalence of HSV-1 and 2 carriers that never have an outbreak, and the relative lack of serious side effects (yes sores itch and weep but there aren’t any long term risks associated with infertility, cancer, etc) make herpes kind of NBD to health care providers.
Yea, I mean, you can’t just continue to tear through the bar scene anymore. But at least for me, it was a welcome wake up call to be more exclusive and only sleep with partners invested in my well-being. Though I can’t say that that conclusion wasn’t reached after a good 6 months of self loathing and extreme feelings…
