What work does it need? I have a weekend project to replace the distributor in mine, it likes to fail on these cars. Not too hard to find one, but a $500 hole in my pocket to get a new one.

Of course! It needs some work so this won’t be the last you hear of it. Perhaps my feelings will change when it’s time to buy hard-to-find parts. Then again, I happily put up with the infuriating nonsense that comes with owning an imported Euro-spec Smart that has exactly zero U.S. support or parts. lol
I’m sure someone more flexible than I can step into it, but I go through the door.
It’s nice to hear from a person who found something they love in an imperfect care, rather than a rant about miniscule details in an essentially perfect car. Unabashed love for my most recent car, flawed or not, is an emotion I identify with strongly.
Does it pass the step-in test? I don’t think I’d opened the door to my parent’s old cconvertible until my toddler needed to climb in.
Do you seriously use a car to go less than a mile?
Yeah, when I lived 5 minutes from work, it wasn’t a big deal. But I’m now 50 miles round trip, and it starts adding up. If our gas prices were much higher, like they are in Europe, I think people would start caring a lot more, and frankly I am considering an EV since 95% of my driving is back and forth to work.
Nice. If I lived that close to work, I’d commute in a beater Leaf or bicycle, and have a gas guzzling toy of some kind in the garage.
Only 8? You’re not trying hard enough.
Yeah. Replacing our old car with a similarly-sized hybrid is saving us $1,000 per year just in fuel. Even after figuring in the extra cost of the hybrid over a similarly equipped ICE, the break-even point for us is somewhere around 5 years, depending on the price of fuel. The car sees a long daily commute and we plan…
No. Not a bit.
WRX Sti Counterpoint: It was almost 40k in 2004 when regular WRXs started below 25k, so relative to the rest of the auto world it’s now bargain :)
They’ve randomly done it twice now. The Kinja editor must be broken today.
You know, you’re right. We had blogged the deaths when they had happened, but I just updated this post to include them as well.
While i don’t like the look of this special edition, in real life the A110 looks way more unique and better than a BRZ that has the engine on the other side of the cabin, is 10% heavier and takes 3.2s more for the 0-100kph.
I have a small turbo commuter car that retards spark HARD on regular gas. Like borderline dangerously (subjectively) in low RPM.
But for the most part, it is kind of a scam. It’s just blended at the pump, gas stations only have tanks for the highest and lowest octane gas.
There should be a whole article on those who use mid-grade (89 octane). Literally nobody uses that. We need to understand these people.
Even the article image shows that button new and shiny.
Can you camp out at a gas station, and interview the first person who uses 89 octane?
