Look at the trajectory of cults of personality, like Madoff and Jim Jones. This is spot on for that sort of thing: grift to power on personality somehow, baffle outside experts who underestimate his appeal because he’s a transparent narcissist and con man, and then reach dizzying heights of power. Then overreach due…
I think you nailed it: he’s got too much screen time. His developing brain can’t really process everything and it makes him irritable and oppositional. I think if we give him some more creative activities, like crayons or blocks to build with, we might see an improvement in his temperament.
I think immediate containment is preferable when you’ve got violent extremists on the loose. You’re right that prison does funnel them into recidivism, but it also gives us the chance to educate them and expose them to other forms of thought. Breaking them out of the echo chamber would be good, though prison isn’t…
Excellent advice! Weeding out problem players is the hardest one to grasp for us nerds I think but it’s so key. We tend to avoid thinking about lot of the social and frankly HR aspects of this hobby but you’ll never look back once you jettison that one asshole that ruins every game.
Yeah I know it still made chuckle. I suppose it’s more like...hmm who is legit terrible and unrepentant and not just a victim of the patriarchy?
The hottest take I saw on Twitter, and I sadly can’t locate it right now, was that rant “is what it would look like if Marie Antoinette was on Facebook”.
It’s a good point, and I agree with you, we can’t be held responsible. I sure as hell did everything short of physically dragging voters to the polls myself and my stupid state still went red. Hell my stupid county went red though it was close. No, my point was more from the outside looking in: like it or not, the…
I just realized that this image is going to headline papers and magazines around the world starting tomorrow. We knew he’d embarrass us, but this thing is going to haunt us for a while. We’re the fucking morons who elected the man pictured in that image after all.
Heh you know that works too.
Is it too much to hope that he suffered actual damage? I feel like it would be fitting to be blind when they drag him out in cuffs..
Works for me. Drop it in about six months? Hmm.
Absolutely. It’s good AND good for you! (in this case it’s good for the soul AND undermines his authority further, hastening his impeachment that much more)
I’ve said this elsewhere but: we see you now and we’ll see you in 2018, motherfuckers.
Sure people are appalled. I’m mostly talking about the actual elected officials. We’ve had peripheral people like Romney speak out, because they have nothing to lose.
Hands off he’s mine I mean ahem
Hell I want to do it just to watch his face. You know how when you tell a toddler no when they really want it and expect a yes? There’s that moment of shock and hurt and then screaming anger. I want to see that shock and hurt in his eyes.
Which I suppose is my point: their party is now explicitly the party of white supremacists and nazis. Their inaction brands them as such. So short term sure, but long term I am genuinely surprised that no one is willing to try to offer an argument against being the party of a hate filled and dwindling special interest…
Update: it’s unanimous now, they all resigned.
