I don't understand why you frame Ava Duvernay as non-successful. She helmed an amazing movie. The Academy did not agree on Best Director and Best Actor. It is up for Best film. Please, this is just an insane tirade that puts criticism at risk of being considered racist.

So, ocarina symbolism? Only ocarina I could think of in pop culture would be Legend of Zelda—the idea of time between adulthood and childhood and how it helped represent lasting relationships. Maybe the malformed ocarina at the end showed that Jake is really bad at the transition, but still values the relationship?
