True a lot of specalized business programs have issues moving to a new OS. We had an old DOS based database that shit the bed when we moved to Windows 7 and had to pay for a new program to be written. We still have it but it won’t work even running a virtual machine in like Windows 98 compatability mode.  Likely…

There are many automated tools that run obsolete operating systems. And they will keep running just fine, if they are isolated from the internet.

Agreed, also good public transit options are needed in conjunction with highways. The western half of the US was built AROUND the automobile, thus the infrastructure and city design is around driving your own vehicle. Suburban sprawl has made this even worse in the last 50 years.

I think the real issue is that widening makes that route faster and then more vehicles funnel to that route which over time creates congestion. But that is kind of the purpose, get as many unneeded vehicles as possible off surface streets and onto a road built only for vehicle travel to get from point to point.

It’s pork barrel spending. And a massive land grab.

You alluded to it in the last paragraph, but I thought I would expand on that point more. The entry fee itself isn’t the real point of contention, it is just the latest beach head in the war. None of which has anything to do with the actual quality of racing, of course. Thats Formula 1!
