Yes. The “good ole days” when you could meet family at the gate, when flying was actually civilized, and security was sane. Now it’s cattle car. I usually fly once a year, 2 max. When I traveled for business, it was Southwest all the time because of their people and also schedules to LA.

Your bit about Goto reminds me of undergrad. One CS professor said “now that you know control structures, you’ll never have to use goto ever again”. The next day someone posted a banner above his office saying “Control structures may come and go but GOTO is forever!!!”

Reminds me of a good story. I was on Page Mill Road in Palo Alto, which is very popular for cyclists. One day a Santa Clara County sheriff was in front of me going down one section. Two cyclists were in the road and the sheriff did a short tweet on the horn to let them know we were behind them in a tight area. Without

I used to go camping at one area that was bad for mosquitoes. I just took a very hot shower, which definitely did the trick.

When I worked near Google, they had entire dumpsters full of their bikes - nothing wrong with them either. Just thrown away for no reason. We even called them up and no one gave a shit. We were so tempted to grab some and donate them for local kids to have bikes.

I actually had this happen to me in a baseball game. People were laughing until the ball was caught by my teammate when the ball bounced high and slowed down enough.

Lose that fucking shitty background music! I just want to hear that sound from the car!

Zubaz FTW!

We had an old Mazda B-2000 truck. It was a complete crap wagon but it worked like a champ.

For San Francisco, all of Fisherman’s Wharf. Overpriced food, junk gifts and other items you can easily get elsewhere.

Damn - that’s a very long term CD. I think my parents could’ve gotten a 10 year CD but they decided that 5 years was enough, and didn’t want to hold it up for too long which made sense. Excellent job my your dad by planning on having CD’s mature on a step-ladder like system, especially when that was for college. Well

Yes - I agree.

About 18.5% or so.

I have only one star to give. Yeah - the A pillar in my Prius can hide a 747. It’s hard to even see signals from other cars depending on the position. That’s why I always keep looking back and forth just in case.

1980-1981 were the days to get that rate! I double checked the rate from the graph. That 19% rate was just nuts.

I put money in several CD’s when interest rates were 4-5%, and it helped a lot. It was out of sight and out of mind, and helped when I ended up buying a house. My parents had a 5 year CD when interest rates were 19%, and that bank was so happy when it matured.

Just watched the video and read up on the story. Holy fuck!

When I get on a plane, I find my seat, put my bags up and sit down. Then watch the carnage unfold. :) I make sure to pee well before I get to the gate too, otherwise you’re stuck waiting for a while.
