Yup. I got a Mk3 Jetta to go with the Golf.
I seem to have bought a 1998 Jetta GT. With 273k miles. And a broken axle. That hasn’t been registered in three years. Pray for me.
Background: I live in Ohio and go to school at a University with unassigned parking spots, ie, you buy a parking pass and park wherever.

In this post I will rationalize what I am about to do. When I bought my Golf back in June ish, the exhaust was (I think) stock from headers to cat. Everything cat back was from a junkyard car. The stock system from the junkyard was then cut up with a resonator delete, welded poorly, slapped on the car, and topped off…
Welp, it finally happened. The last of my sketchy patches failed today, and my muffler now hangs from two mounts and that’s it. Completely disconnected from the rest of the exhaust. I don’t really like straight pipes all the time with the old stuff banging against head shields. Solution: $100 catback. As far as I…
If you really wanted, you could have bought a Daewoo Magnus with a transverse inline 6 sending power to the front wheels only.
I was in Florida all this week. Here’s the cool stuff I saw.
My mom rented a Boostang while we were in Florida for the week. It kicked ass, but I never drove it because rental. Here are my impressions as a passenger.
I like small cars. I drive one and intend to drive another when I move on from my Golf. They’re easy to park, light, tossable, get good gas mileage, and generally good in cities, particularly when you have to parallel park. Here’s a comparison of dimensions of my car versus one very specific small car I’m eyeing.…
A rental spec (rental) Mustang convertible! It has puddle lights!
My battery was sliding in its tray so I folded some paper towel and used it as a spacer on the clip.
Got my car back from, the shop this morning and... It’s not good. 1st is hard and sometimes impossible to get and you cannot get reverse without grinding. I took a video of clutch half-assing its job. Things have not gone well. It sort of drives at least?
What a rotten week. And it’s only Tuesday.
So much leg room! Fits 3 in back comfortably.
I went a bit too hard on the seasoning, but it was good. Pan could have been oilier too. Also made fries for the first time, but a bit too salty. Washed down with six or seven beers. Off to class!
For $700. Replace some mounts and mount and balance a new tire, and for $1000 I’d have a runner to flip. It’s a bad idea because mileage, rust, and interior are unknown.
The VR6 is actually a straight 6 wearing a V6's pants and is better than a 2JZ. Snap em up from your local junkyards while you still can.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart. AWD, turbo 4 banger, came with a stick or a DCT (for the 2007-forward generation).
I picked up my car from the tire shop today (sidewall was blown out, but a replacement tire was all of $60). Shop said it didn’t need an alignment and wasn’t pulling either way, which is a damn lie, but I wasn’t going to pay for an alignment anyways. Just gonna half ass one myself- front toe is the only adjustable…
