I love coming to Kotaku’s comments section when there’s big video game news to read huge video game fans talk about how everything sucks and how every video game will be lame and bad.

Pretty sure this is just a case of us not understanding the context. Look at all the other clips in the trailer, it’s clear Mario visits all kinds of different universes, and this one happens to be a “realistic” one that looks like ours, which I’m sure will have Mario reacting to it oddly as well.

People complain Nintendo doesn’t get with the times.

It’s an established “migration” pattern done by new consoles. It’s a way to get people who took a pass earlier to reconsider while minimizing risk and budget. Considering so many people took a hard pass on the Wii U, there’s definitely still an audience of Mario Kart fans who have yet to play 8. 

Half? The only ones that spring to my mind are MK8 and Skyrim (and likely whatever EA brings to the table). I mean I guess if you count all the ports from that “speed round” video of third party stuff, there’s a lot of ports there, but that’s to be expected. The big reveals were almost all new.

I speak Japanese, and the guy who was doing Suda51 was totally lost. Probably pretty obvious just from the word count even if you don’t know moonspeak. I think it was the same guy who was doing the really awkward translation for the already awkward Splatoon 2 guy.

I’m just hoping they give us a new Metroid game that not only has Samus but doesn’t make her a braindead moron who needs her superior officer to tell her when to breathe. Don’t get me wrong, Other M was a decent game form a gameplay perspective, but the story was sexist and really dumb.

Shovel Knight remains one of the best platformers of the last several years. I’m a little biased, as it combined two of my favorite games from my childhood (Mega Man and DuckTales), but goddamn if it isn’t an example of how the retro vibe can be perfectly executed in modern times.

Um...wow. If ever there was a time when I wanted to see a ‘counter video’ posted, it’s now. You absolutely should show us all what a Master’s Touch can do with editing videos. I’m sure it would all go extremely well and there would be zero criticism. Yes, so very well.
