I had the same qualms when I saw her nervously shaking like that, but then I thought ‘Would Kusanagi’s impassive, doll-like expression work in live-action, for moments of tension?’ I don’t know the answer, but maybe they tried it and it just didn’t look right.

The filmmakers have said this adaptation will only refer to her as The Major.
