Wait. Tobias bailed?
Wait. Tobias bailed?
I'm really sad to see this feature go. I was bummed after Metal Box went away, but Loud managed to fill the void with intelligent, entertaining coverage. Why, AV Club? Whyyyyy???
My all-time favorite poem is "pity this busy monster, manunkind," by e.e. cummings. During your initial reading, it's funny, insightful, structurally daring, and surprising. It's only later that you realize that it's a perfect sonnet.
Way to class up the joint. Just beautiful.

I'd recommend starting with Pattern Recognition, but maybe I'm biased. Neuromancer is great, but if you read it now, you might spend most of the book going "Hey, this is just a ripoff of the Matrix!" until you realize that it was published back in 1984.
Pattern Recognition is one of my favorite books of the past decade. Even if his loose trilogies can be a little uneven, when he's good, he's really good.
So . . . . it's going to be A Charlie Brown Christmas, right?
I'm with you on this one. The problem with Metacritic and other aggregating sites is that they compare apples to oranges. If AV Club decided to use a percentage system instead of letter grades, then Uncharted 3 would most likely get a grade in the 70s. The problem is that on a scale of 1 to 5 (or A to F), C is exactly…
Is that like the metric system or something? Because I'm used to the US school system, where a C equates to something in the range of 70 to 79%.
Blame Metacritic. You might find this hard to believe, but there are actually people out there who obsessively refresh Metacritic score pages looking for rogue publications that don't heap effusive praise over their favorite series. These fanboys then flock to the offending site and post a bunch of nonsensical…
What Kratos means is that Metacritic interpreted the C as a 5/10. Maybe people should be mad at Metacritic and not at The AV Club . . .
WarlordKratos, you HONESTLY believe that Scott Jones is a Sony hater with a chip on his shoulder? Isn't there even the tiniest possibility that maybe he just didn't like the game very much? I played and enjoyed Uncharted 1. I haven't had a chance to play 2 yet. I think it's quite possible that, when I finally get…
I just read 5 pages of delicious comments and all I have to say is that they confirmed everything I love about The AV Club. Don't all of the fanboys calling for Sony to "blacklist" The AV Club for refusing to conform realize that they're only hurting themselves ? Do they really want to live in a world where no one is…
How about
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, X-Play Live, the epic Game of Thrones panel, Archer, American Vampire, Rifftrax Live, and the Locke & Key pilot screening . . .
I think CNN is stealing your articles . . .
Today, they ran a retrospective looking back at Hey Dude:
Fillion was born to play this role.
Come on Whedon, make it happen!
I'll second BioShock. That game is a work of art. You might also want to check out Fallout 3, which has a pretty awesome post-apocalyptic setting.
I'm going opening night. God help me.
Am I the only one who liked A Feast for Crows?
It seems like a lot of this backlash against George R.R. Martin started with massive disappointment over the fourth book. I would have preferred to have more than half of the series regular characters appear, but on its own, I think Crows is pretty excellent.
