People always want to pretend they know what's best. Internet comments are 90% "why wasn't I consulted!?".
Things change, game development is hard, and there are plenty of interests lobbying for their own vision. How long before release did he make those statements?
The ending apparently sucks (have yet to start ME3), but I think you see equal backlash on both sides, and I think that's fair. I'm sure many of the people who say "eh, whatever" are reacting to what they see as hyperbole from those upset.

A short sound truly should be capable of fitting on a disc - much like all of Skyrim's music is capable of fitting on the 360 disc. If there's a difference in sound, I don't know what the reason would be.
