The 1979 Caprice Classic was known to have a Buick 10 bolt rear end, if you optioned for the Police suspension package.

This is awesome and far from useless info!

I imagine you’ll b able to teach a hand in most locations where this would work well but if not, you’re right...gets a little dicey starting the threads with something like this.

Let’s be honest, this does sound like something BMW would do.

I would have loved to see some good ‘ole fashion Jalop research and possibly answers for these questions. I have my speculation about a lot but alas, I'm left with only the ramblings in my head and the strong commenters.

You don’t want that kind of power, likely it’ll immediately open up a singularity.

Good point.

Good luck selling that house and moving.  I do think some large rocks would help here.

Bleed the brake lines.... likely there’s a bunch of trapped air in the system that’s being compressed, just as DT mentions above. That or the master cylinder is shot and is bypassing due to bad seals, not allowing pressure to build.

Drive it like you stole it, that's my motto.

Been doing it since I was 13, when I had a go kart.

Some might say my left foot braking is a bad habit but I disagree, I never rest my foot on the pedal and haven’t ever confused the brake and throttle.

You’ve convinced me but I think you’re describing the exceptions not the norm. So many (most?) salvaged vehicles are flood damaged or wrecked bad or pick any of the other situations. If you were looking for a needle in the haystack and came across a possible salvaged vehicle, sure dig in and see if it’s worth it.

This is all true but I’d rather avoid someone’s cobbled together garage salvaged title vehicle, even if I’m getting an appropriate deal. I just don’t have the patience for this sort of project, as a DD.

Yes, previous accidents are typically a no go for me too. Something as simple as a prking lot bump to a door can cause unwanted headaches down the road. I think the worst is when accidents go undisclosed if an owner can convince a shop to not report when paying out of pocket and avoiding insurance.

Nice, we call that the golf ball treatment. Hides all the new scratches and dents!

Yes, I get all that but you can't avoid a salvaged title by paying a $230 fee like the OP indicates he was able to do in Illinois.

Awesome for you but scares the shit out of me. I don’t think this sort of thing flies in CA but then again CA is a little (read: mostly) insane.

It’s different, especially when you go to sell said vehicle. It’s like having a felony on your record, best case scenario you might be a nice guy and might have paid your debt but it’ll follow you around forever.

I have a mental block against buying a salvaged title vehicle unless, I owned the vehicle, it was totaled, paid-out by insurance and then I bought it back at salvaged prices. I’ve only done this once though, you’d really need to like the car or it was worth next to nothing.
