Spreading a lean team across massive corporation will effectively put an end to the wild stuff we're seeing now and the industry wide shift to EV will likely make it difficult for those ICE engineers to shine.  Certainly some will continue to push for crazy engines, let's hope I'm wrong.

When my wife and I were dating, back in 2002, I drove a clean (but mostly stock) 5th gen El Camino. It has a mild 350 that we used to replacet the tired stock 305, the car was fun and mine but nothing too special.

Agreed, the only way to make them remotely acceptable is to touch things up after the wash. They work during the winter, to help blast off any salt build-up and in a pinch, when you’re short on time.
