I’m blonde, mostly Scottish. I am hairy AF. My heavy peach fuzz was mocked in middle and high school. I have to pluck my mustache daily. The hair on my legs is thick, coarse, and loves to grow (I’m smooth for about 2 seconds post-shave), and I had an ex BF once yell at me that I was a “hairy bitch.”

Yeah. I’m pale af with dark brown almost black leg hair. Another kid asked me when I was 8 years old and wearing shorts why I didn’t shave my nasty legs. I was like “uh cuz I’m 8 and my mom won’t let me play with razors!” My baby shower is tomorrow and I’m anxious b/c I haven’t shaved my legs in a minute, even though

Yeah, post is pretty shitty take.

This is ignorant. You honestly think everyone who is white only has small wisps of hair? Or that there is no negative social repercussions for having said hair? The fuck?

As a very hairy Jewish girl... I also beg to disagree :[

There are valid points in this piece but this idea that all white women have the same amount of body hair or are not shamed for it or have no social repercussions for it is just plain not true. Maybe it would have been a better idea to write about cultural differences and experiences with body hair instead of making

Yes also has this person ever met a greek or italian woman because holy fuck have I been mocked my whole life for how hairy I am and where my dark, coarse hair grows.

South Slavs and geek women beg to disagree.

We’ve been tailoring our bodies to what we think is pretty since time immemorial. The human race has never been thrilled about its default state. I don’t see why this is any different.

No one suggested that she was being extraordinarily brave, so why do we have to shit on everything? We can’t just take this for what it is without lambasting it for not doing enough for the brown community? They really do not HAVE to do anything with one other.

There is no world in which I would see body hair as a good thing. I even think men’s pits are gross. Like...ugh ew pit hair has the texture of pubes (which I also remove) and has no aesthetic value whatsoever and collects sweat and deodorant dingleberries. Ugh.

Plenty of white women get routinely mocked for their natural body hair, if you are of Mediterranean/Greek/Italian persuasion. Those particular whites are of northern lineage, who have a mere sprinkle of it. But the rest of their bodies are conveniently smooth. Wow! So edgy!

I click on things like this hoping for more insightful content then just “this is terrible and we should stop looking at it” and I don’t know why I haven’t learned my lesson yet...

Everybody sucks here.

Just like that nasty Takeshi 69 dude, Jezebel is the only reason I’ve ever heard of any of these people, and the writers are always, ironically, telling me that these are awful people whom no one should be paying attention to.

If he’s upper income and he moved to a lower income neighborhood, he’s still a gentrifier. Gentrification isn’t just about race. It’s about replacement. When affluent people move to a place, they bring their preferences and their capital with them. Rents go up, boutique stores move in, and the original people leave.

I had no interest in this game from the start but am absolutely loving the savage cavalacade of beatings it’s taking the video game press. Keep the Schadenfreude coming baby!

My thoughts exactly. I remember the pit I got in my stomach watching Todd Howard at E3 unveil 76, and thinking this wasn’t going to be my Fallout. I didn’t dare to dream at the time that it wouldn’t be 90% anyone else’s game either.

My apologies for the length of this. I wanted to e-mail it to you but since I can’t find your e-mail address:

Still crossing my fingers that they come up with some way to make all (or part) of this landscape into a viable single-player experience. Not holding my breath though.
