“If it wasn’t for bad luck I wouldn’t have no luck at all”
I heard another version of this. Again a philosophy exam. The single question consisted of the one word “Why?” The only student who passed submitted the response “Because.”
I am a verbose monster, with a Lovecraftian affection for multi-syllabic adjectives and adverbs. (Seriously, I talk like this too.) So...is there a reverse version of this font that allows me to sneak in my adored qualifiers and modifiers? I hate having to plod back through my writing, scything them all out in order…
...serving a 245 year sentence for 13 counts involving two minors
I disagree with all the vehemence I can muster.
Came looking for the Linux distro - left disappointed.
I think there’s too much complexity of ideas, and difficulty with the visuals unless animated: look at The Expanse as a comparison, it is a really good programme but cost a fortune to make, and did not get the audience that it deserved (IMO) even though the setting is pretty straightforward compared to The Culture.
The only one I haven’t read is Surface Detail; so far the premise has put me off,
The Culture is holy, and thou shalt not defile it.
It was cack, wasn’t it. As a fan of Arthurian stuff from way back I was alternately dismayed and enraged by it, then declared it exiled permanently from my home.
Her hair is amazing. Beautiful. I’m very envious.
Just delete Twitter. The clue is in the name: Twit-ter, after all.
I’m glad it’s not just me. I got as far as Dr Strange and I just couldn’t take any more. It’s not that the individual films are bad, not at all, but recently I’ve found myself going back to older films (I had a run on sixties/seventies political thrillers recently) which I’ve found to be more satisfying. In a while I’m…
Here’s my top five of 1998 in no particular order
If you can paint your place, paint it white. Except your bedroom, paint that dark, in any colour you love except red or purple unless you want your bedroom to look like a whorehouse. Each to their own. If you can’t decide what colour anything washable should be, choose white; crockery, towels, bedding, all the…
Someone could die as a result of this policy, and I reckon there’s a good case for a corporate manslaughter case if that happens. It makes a good argument for the holding of vital utilities (which internet and data services very much are nowadays) by some not-for-profit organisation. Capitalists are just not to be trus…
I am in the UK: our university education set-up is quite different and rather more limited with regards to moving between subjects. (I investigated maths with philosophy but it just wasn’t feasible.) I ended up doing maths as it is ‘the source’ of all the others, and enjoyed it thoroughly, but there are days when I cur…
Out here on the perimeter, there are no stars...
If you can find copies (good luck!) then Heretics by Wasteland Games is one of the spookiest games. The company (which was based in Northern Ireland) seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth (plucked up and spirited away by byakhees, doubtless) since the late nineties, but their A5 booklets (StocsLite for…
Engineering instead of maths. Or maybe computer science. I don’t know - everything is interesting :) I mean, come on, who wouldn’t want to do astronomy? Archaeology? It’s all good. Do what you love.
