Have you seen the film Knightriders? The Merlin character in that is interesting.

Why should I employ someone who cannot speak standard English and therefore make it more difficult for my clients to understand them? You are absolutely right that I am going to discriminate against them. I want people who are going to be the most use in the greatest number of client relationships, and I don’t want to

You are so right. I will automatically assume that people who speak non-standard English to a stranger (non-RP in the UK, do you have ‘received pronunciation’ in the US?) are less educated or have poor manners, and therefore I am less likely to trust them when it comes to providing me with goods and services.

I share my name with a TV character so I get a whole bunch of pictures of her.

I was really hoping someone would post an image of this. I’ve negotiated this particular roundabout, and many slightly less complex ones. They are reasonably common in the English Midlands, and you do learn to ‘signal-and-go’ quite fast.

Obnoxious mother. The ultimate girlfriend deterrent.

Never go back. If you disappeared, you did it for a reason. If the reason was you, that’s your tough luck, don’t go round stirring up someone else’s life to make yourself feel better. If the reason was them, it probably hasn’t changed, and you need to stay gone. U-turns on life’s highway are verboten.

Kellyanne Conway looks like Beavis in that drawing. This amuses me.

I’ve been doing this for four and a half years now, since the documentary was broadcast in the UK. I have lost, and kept off, about 35 pounds. I’m 52, female, 5 foot 4 inches tall and weigh somewhere around 120lb. The diet becomes easy once it’s ingrained as a habit. I use Tuesday and Thursday (restriction days) as an

I’m old - I watched Living in the Past as it was being broadcast (1978), and it was really compelling television.

She has already poked a hole through that skirt >:(

I retweet this vid every time I see it. Don’t care.

Indeed...we think you people are nuts.

I would have taken that as a compliment myself - Beyonce makes a beautiful avatar for Gaia/Nephthys/your Earth Mother deity of choice.

That was my first thought as well. I’m glad at least one other person thought it worthy of comment; thank you.

Is it bad that I dropped a couple of friends (not particularly close, but, y’know...I met them through a hobby) because their house was always filthy? Crockery not washed for months, overflowing cat litter tray, revolting oven and microwave, and the bathroom....best not described. I didn’t feel like I could ask them

Don’t regret it. Did you look the way you wanted to look without hurting yourself or anyone else? Yes? In that case it’s all fine. Don’t let some crazy separatist zealots make you feel bad about your choice of outfits from 20 years ago.

Nonsense. Everyone’s opinion is as valid as anyone else’s, and if they care enough to make a comment then they’ve obviously thought about it. You might not agree, and that’s fine, but you don’t get to try and bully someone out of expressing their perfectly valid opinion because you don’t agree.

My opinion too. Person wears clothes; looks awesome, nobody is hurt. Job’s a good’un. Some other people are just looking for things to be offended by. Not so good.

These are all good ideas, but I’m going to add a little piece of advice for sewing T-shirts, or jersey fabrics in general. Whether you intend to sew your alterations by hand or machine, when you sew these stretchy knit fabrics, you need a ball-point needle. These are available for hand sewing and sewing machines, and
