The “Plaid” versions of the S and X do. They don’t have the shifter stalk, and have moved all the stuff that controls either onto the center screen, or onto the steering wheel.

Small government. Freedom of movement of capital and people. Low taxes. Yada yada.

Georgia smacks you with the missed taxes on your car when you try to register it the first time. That can get quite expensive for newcomers.

Florida used to do that. Back when my parents moved down there, the rules were if you brought a car with you, you had to pay something like $2k or more to register it. But if you bought a car from a Florida dealer once you arrived, you could bypass it. There were lots of cheaper used cars with other state tags

My understanding is that South Carolina has property taxes for cars in addition to land.  Car registration is substantially more expensive there as compared to a place like New York, like 5-10 times more.  For example, registering your car in New York is something like $80 every two years.  In South Carolina, it

It’s funny to me when “compromise” is cast in a negative light. I love the compromise of a family hauler that also offers serious performance. Is it the “best”? No, but the magical compromise is that it actually offers creature comforts and utility along with performance that was unfathomable just 10-20 years ago.

They are especially easy to launch with the launch control. I drove one a couple times and it’s insanely quick for what it is.

According to car & driver, the X3M Comp did 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and the website zeroto60times has a 2020 X3M Comp at 3.6 seconds, much closer to the 720S’ listed 2.9 second 0-60. It’s also AWD vs RWD on what looks like gravel, so even at stock it should look like that

Agreed with this take. The “this family car is faster than it has any right to be!” argument went out the window when super SUVs became faster than most supercars from >15 years ago. They are all fast, and they will all smoke just about anything.

So not just outrun by the Bimmer but out-braked. Pretty impressive.

At least they weren’t racing on an active street.

I was riding passenger and tried to enter in an address on the touchscreen in my partner’s Forester and it locked me out of that, but WOULD allow me to drag my finger across the map to find our location, instead.

All these driver assist should be mandated to be on a hard button that can easily be turned off and on. My car has lane keep that works great. but there is a section of my commute where there are left over lines from a lane movement. It messes with my lane keep every time. sometimes almost dangerously. I can turn it

My e90 and e53 both did that and I really liked it when parking against a curb. It sucked for any other situation. I could turn it off by switching my mirror adjuster selector to the right (passenger side). I believe it’s the same for all BMW’s with that feature.

Disabling screen functions when the car is in motion is stupid. Whoever’s riding shotgun should be able to operate the screen, but the software doesn’t allow it.

“yes, our next car is going to charge 0-100% in 2 minutes, have 10000 miles of range while towing two boats, with 9 people onboard, and cost only $20,000. we ask that you give us a deposit of $1000, and it will delver next month.” - Mlon Eusk.
