The problem is that diesel engines are so much dirtier than petrol ones. It is well known what can be accomplished emissions-wise with diesels and the prospects are grim.
The EPA is somewhat a victim of its own success. Our country was nasty when the EPA created, but hardly anyone alive right now remembers how it was before the EPA.
I guess DSG farts are not emissions.

This is a dumb feature. I stopped stalling my car after the first day/hour of driving stick.
Just offering the MT ensures that models receive more auto reporting and mind-share of enthusiasts. So when people ask their “car friends” what cars to look at, they are going to get recommended models that offer a MT, even if the person asking isn’t shopping for it.
Manuals used to be the frugal option. But then automatics became objectively better than manuals in every single metric, including fuel economy.
Mercedes manuals are garbage.
The problem with Mustangs is most of them aren’t ordered with the performance options. Convertibles in particular didn’t even have them offered.
I’ve not driven a R34 GT-R, but I did get a chance to drive an R33 GT-S (with the RB25DET, not the infamous 26).
I’m surprised to see this. IME, Accord enthusiasts tend to think their cars are the best thing ever. The only people to ever tell me that their car could “smoke” mine have been Accord V6 drivers.
It’s been a long time since I’ve been in a luxury brand that actually felt like it was worth the extra money over what is available from “more affordable” brands.
I don’t like the new Supra because when I sat down in it I realized I’m too old to be driving a Supra.
Cost per fillup is dependent upon fuel tank size. Sure, you stop for fuel less frequently with a larger tank size (assuming you fill it up), but you pay for at each stop.
Down hill with a tail wind, sure.
IME, Dodge (and truck) owners are constantly bitching about high fuel costs.
Try as it might, Toyota just couldn’t win over all fans of the Supra.
