This is probably the case - their L3B turbo 4 is a massive 2.7L unit making 430lb-ft in some forms. Considering most turbo sixes are in the 2.9-3.3L range, there’s probably not a lot of power to be gained from a much more expensive and heavy I6 setup.

Replace Urus with Huracan and Cayenne Turbo with 911 Turbo S and you have the same situation. The 911 Turbo S is a good six figures cheaper, depending upon which options are select, it has performance that bends the laws of physics, and it is comfortable on the street.

I don’t think the execs at Kia/Hyundai really understand the American car market. They keep building copy-cat products and killing them after a single generation because of lack of sales. Six years is not long enough to build a following around a car.

I bet this is a weird side-effect of supply chain shortages. Manuals have less computery doodads so they inventory level have been less effected.  And people can’t be so picky about what cars are available.

I had a grey 03 back in the mid aughties. It was a pretty great car. Luxurious, good looking, comfortable, and with a tune + downpipe, quite fast for the era. It handled like ass though.
