My mother-in-law was a hoarder and you have my deepest sympathy. In her case (also in the case of my friend’s parents) they had to wait until she moved into another place. For some reason hoarders seem to be less distressed by you getting rid of the stuff when they’re not around it.

Aww your cat and my cat (RIP) should hang out together! She was cross eyed, super fluffy, had IBD and terrible food allergies, was epileptic, and had one working kidney.
