I think Aang's fear of finally fighting Ozai is so overwhelming at this point he can't see past waking up the next day. I know from personal experience how often before a big event (sadly I've never had to face a Fire Lord or save the world but hey exams count right?) that any detail of what you are actually about to

For me I just think we expect as adults for characters to be able to  eloquently express their emotions, what they are feeling and why.

Spoiler: Adults were once teenagers

Zuko's is much nicer to look at though, in real life it would probably be horrible and as off putting as The Hounds

I would just like to take the opportunity to second this comment as above awesome. I always thought taking Ozai's fire bending away was a fate worse than death and thought it and interesting question:

I think a big part of what the show will be about is how that glitz and glamour of the American political scene and media portrayal of it is a total front. I think the shot of them running down the corridor is an early example of that.
Thick of it had it easy as British politics has always been grey suits and zero

I also disagree with everyone saying after Season 2 final Season 3 is lacking in emotional weight. Aside from killing off a major much loved character (ala 'arry Potter) what else could they do? We always knew the good guys would win so its just a matter of putting all the pieces together.

I think its more that for the first time ever he has freedom so of course he uses the chance to go and explore. Remember he's lived his whole life essentially inside a few K's radius
