Are we looking at the same pictures? This thing screams “generic rental car.”

My response was “There were 1244 Wildcat convertibles made in 1970, there are only 16 listed in the Buick Club directory, this car is rarer than some Ferraris, get the FUCK off my property.”
“Nice rims.”
“This motor swap will be cheap. I can use mostly junkyard parts”
Or the auto manufacturers chose a pump supplier that didn’t meet the requirements of the fuel.
The engine is the M112 “320" which was in a bazillion MBs. It’s oversquare and not much stressed, with a pretty low compression ratio. It’s fairly bulletproof, a little thirsty. The chassis is a shortened version of the W202, lots and lots of those, so I’d think parts are very available. I wouldn’t worry about this…
KBB is NOT a good measure of a car like this. Now I agree it’s probably overpriced unless it went on BAT and got into a bidding war. But since KBB is based on auction and sales values, when there’s something that’s so low miles that there’s no reference point, particularly something that’s collectible/desirable at…
To be fair, it’s not like ICE cars are that much louder, I’ve been snuck up on a couple times with pure ICE vehicles.
This might be the only time in recorded history where Snap On is the bargain option.
Buying a salvage-titled car or truck requires a leap of faith that the repair work was done well and completely. At $7.2K and more than 100K miles, I ain’t jumpin’
If its priced accordingly, and there are good records of both the original damage and repairs, no problem. At some point, there would be enough damage for a hard no, but in plenty of cases you can score a good deal if it’s been done right.
Oh look, it’s a salvage title vehicle from a curbstone auto dealer. What could possibly go wrong? No dice.
$4000-4500, tops, and that includes the HBO surcharge. A salvage title is a salvage title.
The biggest concern about salvage titles is of course 1) It wasn’t fixed right; and 2) your real is crap.
Hey! That’s a really nice looking truck! Almost looks too good for a 20 year old truck.
It was a little too steep before we got to the salvage title.
Negotiate it closer to 5K and sure. Actually refreshing to see an explanation of the salvage title and what was done to repair it. I’d still inspect it and remain suspicious from a distance but this admission in the ad helps ease my concerns. Reluctant ND at this price, but I’ve seen worse for more.
