The future of the auto industry: You can buy any vehicle you’d like... as long as it’s a grey SUV or giant pickup.
Under $20k but has to be a prestige marque, woe-is-me-my-finances-are-such-a-problem, and oh by the way, my au pair will need to fit in my budget luxury SUV.
Go for the best Sienna SE you can find for $20k. It’s a Toyota, so everything will continue to work no matter how long you keep it. Ignore the miles too, unless it has north of 500,000, you’re fine. You get leather and some niceties, power everything, and power doors that are the key to not wanting to choke your kids…
I can see Genesis competing at the level of the Lexus LC, perhaps even a little bit above that… but at $300,000? At least Cadillac has the pedigree of once upon a time actually being the “standard of the world”. Genesis has no such pedigree. I experienced the same from 18 Honda dealers and 2 Chevy dealerships. I bought a Mazda and a Subaru unmarked up. I had not considered either. It was quite a wakeup call.
No auto maker is dumb enough to think the NA truck market is easy. If anything, they’d bring a Maverick/Santa Cruz competitor if they had one. The full or even medium duty truck market is something that would require billions in investment and advertising to even earn them a sliver of the market. VW would be…
ah yes, all the kids are clamoring for beige.
I think I will see a ton of these in California.
