I was going to say the Model S P100D Plaid specifically. It is one of the fastest production cars you can buy today, but other than people knowing Teslas are fast, they don’t have any particular “look at how fast I am” styling cues.

Any Tesla is deceptively fast

That only matters if there is low demand for their cars, which is not the case so far. Right now they are stretched thin in terms of production capacity, so having an old platform hardly matters. There are other automakers that keep platforms around for a long time, with only modest updates (which Tesla have done even

Yes you are.  They continue to dominate the EV sector and every other auto manufacture has yet to come close.

Minor facts which completely make the entire article shit.

Absurd statistical comparison as you point out, but along with the typos and poor grammar, a typical Jalopnik attempt at dissing Tesla.

I completely agree. Owen is just trying to troll the Musk fanboys.

Tha day they buy the death tube and the day they slam into a hillside at 800 MPH?

Everyone says those are magical when they are working though.

This is a troll on a troll right?

lmao

That’s a long way to drive just to disappoint her.

Would I have done the drive? Nope. But plenty of fans drive long distances for things they are fans of... who gives a shit?

Why has this article come up on the “Latest” page? Despite the timestamp on the article, the timestamps on the comments reveal that it was posted on 1/27/21.

I don’t really see electrics being a bad thing. Outside of the vehicles you mentioned (sports cars and full size trucks) GM isn’t really known for expectational powertrains. Are we really going to lament the loss of their ho-hum four cylinder and V6 engines?

This. I didn’t give a shit about GM until their EV offerings. Still mostly true. The Volt was excellent, and I leased a Spark EV and Bolt - both were great (outside of their current battery fire issue).

Well, I’m definitely not in the market for a conservative commuter car, but I can appreciate that they built a pretty decent one.

First off let me say that I think it’s a shame that the base Model 3 is now over $40k. And especially that the base Model Y was discontinued earlier this year so now that starts at $55k.

Neither Elon Musk nor Tesla have commented about the increase, but it’s suspected that the upcharge is the result of struggles related to the ongoing chip shortage.
