Thanks for reminding me: 'Pale Fire' is one of my favourite books thanks to all the wordplay and its amazing structure. :-)

I guess I'm primitive then.

I don't care if she walks out rocking a purple mohawk with extensions down to her ankles.

I think the fact she changed her mind about the gym indicates there's still hope! Also, portion sizes will click w/her once she gets into exercising to burn off calories, kind of like putting 2+2 together. Thank you for saying about my mother (she's very stubborn as well).

Holy hell. I always liked you but now I like you even more. I thought my now-demented 87-yo mother was bad, but damn. I'm so sorry for what you're going through trying to help your mom live better. :-(

Thanks for the Lovecraft mention and the illustrations (as well as your wonderful avatar).

After a cursory search, I found this on the second page of results. I might be wrong but placement on the second page indicates to me that it's possible they changed the maps since I left (13+ years ago), changed them to something more realistic. At least, I hope so.

variable sizes are a pain in the ass (like in Europe).

Right? ;-) I moved to EU and will never forget how odd maps looked at first until I noticed that we weren't the centre of attention any longer. I felt like a dummy who was subjected to propaganda w/which I grew up thinking the US is in the front or middle and that was the only way to view any map or globe.

Apart from the bit about studio executives (I wouldn't know), if the rest of your comment is a shorter version of saying 'most people have very short memories and are stupid anyway', I agree.

Oh, how I love your hair! I know others said it before, but I wanted to chime in as well. :-)

In before people scream, 'It's not a democracy — it's a republic!'

His voice was OK as well.

I love this! Thank you.

Big thanks for posting that iconic photo and your brilliant caption. I saw that happen on TV and was so damn proud they used the Olympics as their platform.

What are these supposed to be? The 21st century's Lawrence Welk and his insipid, straight-o family? *shudder 'n' puke*

Please tell us more about your travels. Sounds fascinating and impressive.

Sorry for being all shouty, but THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR GLORIOUS ILLOS, DUDE.

You're not alone. In the 90s, I wanted everyone/everything online and now they are, all sharing their heads off. *deletes disgusted diatribe*
