If this were a 4x4 it would at least conceivably make a decent winter beater. In RWD form I cannot imagine a use case for buying this. So, ND.

I’m surprised by the comments. Yes, this is a $3-$4k truck 3 years ago.  But this is the used car market today. Ok, the color is just awful, I think we can all agree. But if you bother to clean the engine compartment for photos, you likely took decent care of this. Considering this just shouldn’t cost a lot to run and

The race shop I take my car to has another shop nearby that exclusively works on old British cars. Every time I’m there, there is a line of probably 15-20 XJSs of this vintage waiting in a row for their next round of life support. That doesn’t sound like a fun lifestyle to get into.

Nah... I think even in pre-COVID times, this would have still been worth at least $4000 given the condition, low mileage and the spec.

$20K?! ZOINKS!

Bog standard drivetrain you can get serviced at ANY competent garage. Truck (body on frame) chassis + 4wd. Clean interior and exterior. Any old RR, Land Cruiser, in close to this condition (good luck finding one) would be the same price or higher with “enthusiasts” climbing all over themselves to get it. And you’d

I love pics that show the car in its natural habitat — in this case the side of the road.

i kind of love this thing and it’s nearby. if those wheels were centered in the wells i’d seriously consider buying this to fuck around in. but something is seriously wrong there.

It’s got a well-used regular motor, a 330 cubic inch plant, it’s got new tires, tired suspension, probably some kind of shocks. It’s a model made for flex fuel so it’ll run good on E85 gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. If you are going to ape an existing design, take one of the bazillion concept cars that were never put into production and give people something to see on the roads that would otherwise never exists. Yesterdays QotD highlighted dozens of mid-engined concepts that never saw

I could see myself buying this and then replacing all the Lambo badges and script with some made up emblem and name, like a GTA car. I want to say GTA III’s Diablo knockoff was called the Infernus? It’s been a while since I played it. Turning this into a video game car could be a lot of fun at car shows. Fellow gamers

The wonky steering column doesn’t really scare me much. A lot of cars of this period had problems with ignition switches which are hidden between the steering column and dash.

It’s not a red flag on these and Mark Vs as well. The column is made from cast metal parts and there’s a boss that the shift lever mounts to that breaks if the effort needed to get out of park is too high over time. The only fix, to my knowledge, is a replacement column.

Wholeheartedly agree. This is actually a rare one that isn’t perfect, but also isn’t rusted out.

That’s a pretty sweet looking driveway, esp that Maserati. Can you really get much cheaper than $4k nowadays for just about any 60+ year old car that you can start up and drive home? It has some quirks, but also seems like a good start for someone who wants a old and unique car that won’t need a lot of effort to make

“...take a gander at other Land Rover prices on the market.” No need. I’ve driven these in work conditions in other countries and as much as I have loved them as work horse vehicles, the 85 hp diesel version moves your tools slowly, it’s loud, about as comfortable as the 50s five-window Chevy you mentioned, and is

Went NP for salvage value.
But wait! It’s not a fuel pump that’s needed, according to the ad it’s a ‘fuel pomp’. Maybe that’s why they couldn’t find the right part?

“1999 Mercedes Benz all 230 convertivo MECANIC special need fuel pomp clean Nv title 185.000 miles call obo $1650"

I’m also in for it being a convertio.

Big voice: All it needs is a new fuel pump...

This Yugo is going to get busted on, as I expect. But being in the Yugo community, I can tell you that this is where the market is for one this nice. I see a lot of Yugos in lousy condition selling for prices I can’t fathom. All this one needs is two center caps and I know two guys in Serbia right now who can source

That’s no ordinary rabbit. That’s the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on...”
