I loved Martin Landau. And his daughter

Hahaha. I just posted that!!! (I provided a visual). I went with Bathory because I wanted to avoid a direct vampire reference. You?

So Madonna’s just, like, two or three steps away from basically being Elizabeth Bathory at this point, right?

Buttered bread is pretty good though, especially toasted. What are we talking about again?

Heck, having a crush on her really just means you have a pulse. Hachi Machi.

I’m now considered an “old” (born 1970) and half the time I hear a song on the radio I have no clue who sings it bc djs nowadays never announce it. Didn’t they used to? Maybe I’m expecting too much, having been weaned on Casey Kasem. My seven yo daughter knows way more about popular songs than I. Oh well.

Glad to hear I wasn’t the only one who was listening to that and thinking, “what the fuck are these people talking about?”

That was a fantastic episode! I got so excited when I heard Lindy.

You are doing good work, my friend!

I second Rat Girl - her writing was so tender and raw and beautiful and melancholy yet hopeful...

I love the Powdered Milk song! I basically leave NPR on all day Saturdays because it’s just so good—Car Talk, WWDTM, TAL, PHC. I love it.

Prairie Home Companion is my shit! I make Lake Wobegon references all the time at work, and thankfully I work at a university with an NPR affiliate because it means people finally (!) get my jokes.

I heard that one too. As I was listening I was wondering,’ is nobody going to mention Ira Glass is exaggerating his fry?’ And then they did and it was beautiful. He claimed that they had never gotten a single complaint for any male fry, but bus loads for women.

She is SO little. Like, the tiniest little bird of a woman you’ll ever meet but she’s got this huge heart that just shines through with every word she says.

Fun story, I was at the bar and I dropped a loonie on the ground, and before I could bend to pick it up, some BEAUTIFUL ginger boy in a leather jacket grabbed it

“they’re all prissy white people who think they’re above such banal things as knowing who Kim Kardashian”

I love the Runaways and I got the chance to meet Cherie Curie last year...she’s incredibly sweet and a cool person. But I really did not care for her memoir, Neon Angel. The writing was almost painfully bad.

I read a great piece yesterday (which I could find it) that basically said that the listeners were mad because they’re all prissy white people who think they’re above such banal things as knowing who Kim Kardashian is, and the show didn’t kowtow to them and pretend she isn’t immensely relevant to pop culture. Amanda

I’ve heard Girl in a Band by Kim Gordon is really good. I need to read all of these this summer!!

You know, I am a big public radio person. NPR all day, every day, not kidding. But I know that public radio fans are also the kind of people who send legit HATE MAIL when someone pronounces an obscure word wrong. And Wait Wait listeners tend to be especially pedantic and cranky. So this does not surprise me.

Yesssssss.
