No, but the right response probably isn’t a combination of this is 100% your fault, you need to deal with it, figure it out, this is your problem/not my problem. That’s a fucked up way to deal with the situation, especially with someone who may already be feeling pretty bad about what’s going on.

For a few reasons, but a couple of the more prominent are (1) that like Pharrell, RuPaul is of the “new black” school of thinking in which all problems black people face today are primarily of their own doing, and it’s up to the individual to overcome those disadvantages they were born with, and (2) he’s also one of

I have my own issues with RuPaul, but I’ve never denied the man’s intelligence, and I was offended by how dumb this interview was. Haha

Right, got it. Which at that young of an age, is basically like being born into it.

She was in it from a very early age, so it’s basically the same thing.

There’s a difference between “this is your responsibility” and “let’s take action to deal with this.” A marriage is a partnership, it would be really cold just to say “go deal with this on your own, this is your problem.” If any partner said that to a man or woman about their body, it would seem wholly cruel and

Not neccesarily. I was dealing with ED for a while. I also masturbated a lot, but I didn’t finish quick. I would actually masturbate over much longer sessions. But I was still having problems going limp or not getting hard during sex. So it’s not just jacking off. It could be anything from performance anxiety to blood

Other people who were born into it (including Remini herself I believe) have gotten out. There is still hope for her.

“It’s just...what about the frigging optics?”

I’m imagining it’d actually be kind of hard to take him down as you’d have to punch past so much marshmallow fluff in order to actually get to anything important. That sack of garbage might just wear you down first.

“and that other woman who’s in every black movie but you wouldn’t recognize her name if I typed it anyway”

I have quite a few issues with various things Beyonce has done. Never said I was cool with it. We’re speaking specifically about the issue of what she’s done with the video here, and that’s what I’m arguing about. I actually don’t think she’s all that bright or genuine. More likely than not, she isn’t even aware of

How is it centrist or moderate to say that people should be able to create and advertise the food they want? You’re the one saying this should be kept from people. In a true progressive society, people shouldn’t be barred from making a product like Pepsi, but they should have the options and education to make choices

My first paragraph was addressing your “revisionist history” statement. Which is why I mentioned “revise” in the first sentence. You said in previous responses that she seems to be claiming she was there, and looking awesome, and that’s what I was responding to. So I don’t know how the first paragraph has nothing to

Or more appropriately, Beyonce can be the face of whatever she chooses, and we can work to educate people in poorer communities about health, nutrition and the affects on the body. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Please feel free to explain. I dislike when people throw out statements like that without explaining why they feel that way.

Except she didn’t really revise anything. She showed the vibrant culture of New Orleans that exists today and made a statement about police presence and brutality in relation to the city/black culture at large. It’s not like the thesis of the video was “Everything was fabulous during the flood and I was there and I

Drinking soda doesn’t have a devastating affect on the health of anybody. Drinking soda excessively does. I’m not really defending soda here as much as I’m feeling like your issue seems to be more about health than about these particular endorsements.

That’s a really weird statement. Plenty of artists make statements about things they are connected to, even if they weren’t there. Including things from the past/history.

No one ever said it excuses them from whatever else they do, I’m just saying that they make it a point to help many people as well. And not just through charity.
