What We do in the Shadows was great, Hunt of the Wilderpeople was very good, Thor:Ragnarok has my full attention, but 1) This is a movie that probably shouldn’t exist at all, and 2) the way you mix screwball humor into other genres doesn’t fit with Akira, no matter how good you are at it.

There isn’t going to be an Akira adaptation, especially if they cast white people for the leads. It didn’t work with the Death Note movie, it didn’t work with DBE, and it certainly didn’t work when they made whitewashing the protagonist a plot point in GitS.
