How many blockbusters get money from the military to turn them into glorified recruitment ads? I know it’s not uncommon (see: Man of Steel), but is it basically all of them except the first Avengers?

Why wasn’t there a widespread conversation about a pedophile-ring in Hollywood that Elijah Wood talked about?

I tend to agree. I don’t like the fact that the esports events would be so heavily tied to a single commercial product.

As an avid gamer I’m 1000% against this. eSports players are not athletes. The Olympics is an athletic competition. Just because we’ve accept there’s a parallel in the competitive nature doesn’t mean it belongs in the Olympics. Why do humans always have to take something that is fine (e.g. eSports on ESPN2) and fuck

Funny, but raises an important issue.

I love eSports. I think it is awesome that it exists and that it is the phenomenon it has become. I definitely do NOT want it as an Olympic sport. I think the Olympics has too many sports as it is. Less, not more here is the way to go. I would make the exact same arguments I would make for not including F1 or

Ugh, the last people I want telling me what should and shouldn’t be at the Olympics is the mouth-breathers at deadspin.

Haters. I predict at minimum, 10 of Hackenberg’s passes will result in touchdowns.

Roger Federer Turns 36, Is Wished Well By People He Has Owned

Interesting premise. Since all fanfiction sucks shit, maybe it will cancel out.

I was listening to a podcast a while back, and one of the guys posited this idea of the “idiot detective,” where our brains get so excited that we recognize something that we don’t really care if it makes logical sense to be there or if it adds anything substantial to the plot, because we’re so excited that we make

Hollywood loves movies about making movies. Journalists love journalism about journalists. Youtube rant people love youtube rants about youtube rant people.

Ready Player One is fanfiction about fanfiction authors.

The not so secret secret of the middle east: Pretty much every Islamist country supports terrorism; it’s just to them their terrorists are “freedom fighters” and the other guys’ terrorists are terrorists. It’s a proxy war going ‘round and ‘round between Sunnis and Shias for decades extending to actual war centuries

Not saying any of these narratives are untrue, Qatar’s practices on my levels are appalling. But Qatar being accused of sponsoring terrorism by Saudi Arabia and others is stunning in it’s audacity.

Considering I imagine most fans are white, corporate sponsors are likely mostly white, and the owners are mostly white... well, you should stop being so surprised by any of this.

Cutler hasn’t cared about football in years and was a vocal supporter of a misogynistic, racist, abrasive Presidential campaign yet there was not outcry against signing him. Kap kneeled during the national anthem to protest videos of people actually being killed by police.

Even Schindler’s List 2: Electric Boogaloo?

Another hypocrite here. I think a big part of the rise in the popularity of the NFL is the rise of fantasy football. It is so easy now to have a (kind of) personal stake in the outcome of most games. I know for me, playing fantasy was like the first hit off the crack pipe - it completely changed how I watch the game.

You describe me to a tee. I don’t think I’d even miss it. It’s more of a habit than a passion.

Neo-feudalism? The Middle East is good old fashion medieval feudalism.
