Oh, so it’s to Minnesota hockey people what Boondock Saints is to Boston Irish? Good to know.

I feel like every director makes a revisionist adaptation of Sherlock Holmes wishes, on some level, that they had chosen Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot instead.
I don’t even think internet opinion has changed on this one. It’s not good, but it is interesting. And the older you get the more clearly you realize how formulaic and similar to each other most movies really are, so you end up revisiting and cherishing the few that actually break that mould.
Hot Take: Outside Batman’s rogue’s gallery, I don’t think DC has as deep a selection of great villains they can work with (Mxyzptlk, Egg Fu, and Bizarro are too weird, Mongul is too racist, Gorilla Grodd is too endangered), which makes the weak use of Lex Luthor and Doomsday in BvS almost criminally stupid. I half…
Are there people for whom Mighty Ducks is some kind of cultural touchstone? I’m a 90s kid, I was in the target demo when this movie came out, and even then I thought it was a piece of crap, an overpriced marketing scheme for Disney’s expansion hockey franchise. I know a couple of poor slobs who did end up liking the…
Ironically, you have to be white people soft.
Even that counterpoint shot was bad, though.
It’s kind of ironic, because with video games you’re actually in a position to do away with the traditional bird’s eye view entirely and follow the game from the players’ perspective, letting viewers get into the action and feel the thrill the player feels. Especially for an atmospheric game like Battlegrounds, that’s…
Is everyone within earshot complicit
The NCAA forbade the school from calling an ambulance for him until they could satisfactorily prove he wasn’t an athlete getting a free ride to the hospital.
Yeah, tip inflation is ridiculous. I remember when 10% was standard and 15% was generous. Then it was apparently decided that 15% was standard; now in the last 15 years 15% has become stingy and 20% is considered standard; I’ll bet my next bar tab that by 2022 25% will be standard. Why? It’s not really clear -…
If I heard the entire Duke athletic program died of smallpox, I’d question the wisdom of trying to eradicate the disease in the first place.
I feel this also every time there’s outrage about white washing, which for some reason always seems to fall most heavily on the actor taking the part, rather than on the director, producers, and executives responsible for that decision being made in the first place. Of course, the studios are happy to have it that way…
1. I downloaded my “Facebook archive” that supposedly contains all the data Facebook has on me, after someone posted some crap on Twitter about being able to see all your phone calls. Actually there were no phone calls, not even records of Facebook Messenger calls.
Easier solution: do away with a record-based draft lottery, so everyone has an equal shot at #1. Roughly one year in 30 you get a championship team getting the top pick, which seems like a small price to pay for removing any incentive for tanking.
Too much of the NBA regular season is unwatchable, though - when the sports bubble bursts it’s probably going to start with basketball because of that.
He also blew a 3-1 lead in the finals...
That’s a suit jacket, not a blazer.
It’s funny, you acting like they’re going to turn it around and make it to Qatar.
What I was is for them to not be ugly. The blue ones are okay, but the white ones fail that test.
