Opening a new card would be a new hard-pull on your credit report . . . which might cause a decrease in your credit score. Depending on the company, a request to increase your limit may also be a hard-pull. That said, it might be worth the short term hit to increase your total credit-limit long term.
That’s what I was going to say. I have 4 cards, but the amount I spend on all four combined is probably only about as much as the limit on the lowest one, so the overall utilization is always low.
You can always go out and get another credit card with another company. I was having that problem with one of my cards. I got a second card from a different company and have been able to steadily increase my overall credit limit. I’m now up to $9,500 on one and $12,500 on another. I only put maybe $2-3k combined on…
“However, some investors argue that their low fees, or expense ratios, come at a price” - correction “investors” needs to be changed to “anyone who directly benefits from high fees aka brokers, brokerage firms and the entire wealth management industry that thrives on the outdated, unfounded and frankly absurd notion…
I think being female and doing things alone draws extra attention and comment, sadly. I don’t travel as much on my own as you do, but people are consistently confused and concerned when they find out I do things alone, especially hiking or biking.
I consider this to be one of the first “adult” life lessons I learned. If my dad wanted socks and underwear for Christmas... wasn’t up to me to decide what was actually a “better” gift. So I eventually learned to give him socks and underwear.
Sounds like another DIY column.
That’s a good solution. Unless your friends already have very expensive tastes, of course ;)
I’ve always believed that a great gift is something the recipient wants, but a better version than what they would buy for themselves. They have a cup of tea every day; you give them a fine tea selection. They’ve been thinking about new bedsheets; you splurge on a luxury set for them. It makes the gift practical AND…
I agree with you for the most part, but it’s odd that people ignored what their friends specifically asked for on their registries and instead got a different item from the same category. I think there should be a balance between getting people what you think they want or need and letting them choose also. (I like to…
Good on you for getting results without any real punishment. Curious though: what’s the doctor’s reasoning for cutting out spicy foods?
I lost 20+ lbs two separate times over the years trying two different diets: Weight Watchers and low-carb.
You lost 28 lbs in 50 days? Wtf?
I’ve been exercising for almost seventeen weeks. I also made some changes to my diet. Eating more fresh fruits and veggies. Less processed food and sweets. I have lost some weigh but the biggest difference I’ve noticed is that I have more energy. I’m able to do more physically. I’m starting to get a high after doing…
I can vouch for this. 50 days in, 28 lbs down, and I don’t feel like I’m “punishing” myself or withholding too much. I’m also trying to be more active, but I think the biggest factor in play is portion adjustment. There are foods that I enjoy that are also not terrible for me. I just focus on those now. :)
I’ve been obese since I was 10 (now 28), and after on / off running sessions (a month after I give up) only recently have managed to get some regular exercise (1+ year) into my life.
What changed? Life. I was a Masters student teaching two full courses and barely had the time or mental strength to get anything else…
I’m a female cyclist who has also run in races. Not ALL cycling events are the same, though. Cyclocross is a sport that is gaining riders and marketshare away from both road and MTB. Locally, there are different divisions but even very good races that attract sponsored races - either on course or gravel-road-combined…
What if this turned out to be a viral campaign for Adobe?
