OT but OMG I love the OSU band so much!! I’ve given visiting lectures there a few times but haven’t yet managed to time a visit that coincides with one of their field shows...um, I mean, football games (whatever, the field show is totally the point for a band geek like me)

*awesome* dress!!!

I won’t subject you all to my running-damaged and badly-painted toenails; they’re an extra-sad mess right nowbecause I had to slap some polish on them for a wedding and bought the first decent shade of gray polish that I found at RiteAid.

Unfortunately there’s a SUBSTANTIAL difference between “highly educated people” and “highly *scientifically* educated people”. The big swath of English/philosophy/history/liberal arts majors from [insert fancy school here] who took, like, Astronomy 101 or similar freshman year to satisfy their science requirement

I’ve thought for a while that she might pick John Hickenlooper and am surprised his name hasn’t come up more- he’s fairly popular in swingy-but-blue-leaning Colorado, liberal in ways that counterbalance Clinton, and has a present but pretty low-key national profile. He’s also firmly in the “benign white guy” category.

This is literally one of my worst nightmares...

I’m in a travel-heavy profession and there’s a really interesting community discussion going on right now about work travel (conferences, on-site work, etc.) to Zika-affected areas. Should conferences in these areas be relocated out of fairness to pregnant/trying-to-conceive attendees? Does bowing out of risky work

the fact that “BirdieSanders” is trending at #1 on Twitter right now is honestly restoring my faith in humanity a little bit...

Mmm, I think sparrow. From the above photo the chest markings look a lot more like a female sparrow. it does look a bit yellow in the video but I’m guessing that’s just a video resolution/color balance thing.

i have questions

I would *most definitely* watch a movie covering Haymitch’s Hunger Games. I sorely missed that whole subplot in the Catching Fire movie...
