Again, I’ve heard the “boys will be boys” in the States, but the defense of street harassment in France was squarely framed through a xenophobic defense of “French romance.”

The street harassment is bad in France. I don’t think anyone is denying it occurs in the States, but, seriously, it’s bad. (Note: When I tried talking to Frenchmen about the harassment, they had “no clue” what I was talking about. If you fail to recognize a problem, of course it does not exist.)
