I don't think the perks she asked for suggest she's not a fit for Nazareth's culture, unless Nazareth's culture is to hire people in tenure track positions without any intention of actually ever granting anyone tenure. These perks are about securing tenure, not a reluctance to be at a small teaching-centered college.

The author of this piece did not say that the man was Muslim. She probably didn't know if he was or not, and unlike so many people in this thread, including the OP, she did not make assumptions.

Is there some other way you would like her to express that a man in Turkey tried to buy her from her family, or do you want her to not say that this happened to her?
