My 2007 honda fit sport (manual) has over 200k miles, (all commute miles) and I haven’t had any single issue you have mentioned. You can convert a AR15 into a AR pistol. Or build one with a smaller barrel and no buttstock. Here is a comparison between a 16" AR15 and a pistol. You can keep it shooting the typical round the rifle was made to shoot, or you can convert it to 9mm, .45, or whatever you want.
