I wonder the same thing, especially with the availability of vintage furs on the market, which in my opinion can often be more attractive and are usually better constructed. I wonder if we'll come full circle, with the masses getting into these affordable furs (if they're really coming so heavily into fashion) and the

I've actually always wondered about leather and food. Is it common practice to use the whole animal, and are some manufacturers better than others? It seems to make sense that the whole animal would be used, when you consider a business' bottom line, but sometimes I wonder if health and safety regulations could get in

It's good to hear from someone who has a different point of view. Out of curiosity, do you also think that fake fur reinforces fur as fashion?

This is a good reminder of why I've been meaning to learn to sew. Need to stop putting that off! (I imagine it'll be a long while before I'm ready to work with furs, though.)

It's nice to hear that so many people have the same attitude in regards to reusing old garments, even if the material they're made of is widely frowned on today. It's one of those things I always wondered about in terms of public perception.

That's how I feel! They're glamorous and they already exist, but I don't want to feel like people are judging me as I go about my day. Then again, maybe I should learn to care less about that.

Yeah, that one sounds like it would have been a good candidate for restyling.

I think gradual change is fine. That's usually what it takes for large scale change. Most people here are pretty ethical, and at least consider these issues, but I still know so many people who have a knee jerk reaction to fur, but don't have an issue with some of the worse factory farming practices.

Oh no! :( I'm guessing it was irreparable.

I feel like fur gets way more attention than other forms of animal cruelty, like you mentioned. Maybe because of the combo of cute animals, traditionally being accessible on to the rich, easy targeting, and the frivolousness of fashion.

Yeah, that's roughly how I feel. Except I don't feel like I can pull fur off (or maybe I'm scared of mean looks from anti-fur people, who I really do understand, but don't feel like standing there explaining myself to).

Selective ethics. Not everyone knows about the diamond trade, and it doesn't have a furry little face or naked celebrity to sway the masses.

I'm wondering how people feel about vintage fur.

I think we all need to work on this. Not just sisters and female friends. Believe me, I've tried with my brother (who really believes women are inherently crazy "but not you" and was — 2 months ago — shocked to learn that both my mother and I are feminists), but it's not my job to help him become a whole person who

I've never seen a published photo like any of these before. It's comforting to see a real human being, unretouched, not a media-approved ideal for any given size. She is very beautiful.

Poor thing spends just under $380k per year. We've all been there.

I'm so sorry to hear that. A beloved pet makes it worth every minute.

It really does feel a little better.

You're right. Most people choose their beer based on branding, not taste. This says a lot more about target market demographics as chosen by beer companies than it does about consumers' choices.

I was sooo satisfied when he fell in line. But now I feel for his lost autonomy.
