This has been my idea for years with The Last Star Fighter. Keep the original footage and just replace all of CGI pieces with modern works. My own experience with several friends who are normally very intelligent and well spoken but are conspiracy theorists - They have made up their minds and cannot be swayed by any actual facts you bring up. Very similar to a religion in that respect. And they are true believers in whatever conspiracy they follow.
