There are like 4-5 license types in ny. You can get an id card up to a CDL. For a driver’s license or permit you have to take a road test which is very strict and hard to pass plus a written test which admittedly is in like 30 languages. 

With a license you can get a title. If you get a title you can export. It’s pretty stupid because I live on ny and I have Nexus and real id license which does require sharing with the feds. And to get a ttp you need a passport and biometrics.

Gas is too cheap.  That is the problem.  Go to Europe suv and crossovers are non existent.  So these large vehicles are irrational because the running cost is comparatively low.  If gas were $8 like it is in Europe the discourse is different

It may be worth mentioning that 20-25% of ALL fires in the US are auto fires. Leaking fluids and elec are the most common. And this leads to TSB, if the manufacturer finds an issue w/ your vehicle please get the recall done. My current car has has 3 ABS recalls that lead to potential fires.
