If damaged/affected areas are near anything electrical turn off or disconnect power to that area. It can help to avoid further damage, electrocution, or fire.

Thank you for sharing this. My family lost two relatives this year who did not have life insurance or end-of-life plans. While their final wishes were minimal, that was still added stress and out-of-pocket cost in addition to our grief. Even a small burial policy and basic will would’ve simplified things.

We switched to all LEDs in our house shortly after moving in several years ago. All the light fixtures had incandescent bulbs and a good number were burnt out. Fortunately our electric provider had a promotion going on where you could apply for a box of mixed style LEDs for free and purchase additional at a reduced

Is Prime Day the best time to buy a Kindle? I’m wanting to gift a Kindle bundle to a relative, but availability & pricing seems to have fluctuated over the past month.

I’ve nearly given up on Airbnb for anything but a longer-term stay. It’s changed so much in the past few years.

Chimneys - not limited to actual wood-burning or gas-venting forms - but also the gas insert with decorative masonry/veneer wall. That was primarily blocking our wifi signal after switching to an AC lite.

Audio equipment may not have shot up in price, but availability of certain things definitely took a hit. I finally decided to replace an old “home theater in-a-box” setup and was looking at audio receivers last year. Within my price range ($300-500) there were a handful of 5.1 receivers in stock through the common

It never hurts to check with your employer for bulk store membership. Even mine - a “mom & pop” small business - offers its handful of employees free Sam’s Club membership.

I’ll take that home with the “outdated” traditional fireplace. Gas should be the fuel source for the stove/oven, not a fireplace, IMO.

The game looks fantastic. And with a Miyazaki (any relation to Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki?) and GRRM having a hand in this game, I’m even more intrigued.

Today I learned...

The dishwasher in our rental is now old enough to vote. It still functions, but is not as efficient or quiet as modern units. It also tends to leave bits of hard food and/or a layer of slimy scum if I don’t rinse/scrub dishes beforehand.

Take-offs are popular for vehicles that are used off-road. A lot of times they can be found new. But even those that have a few hundred miles on them can usually be found for a bargain compared to buying the same tires (sometimes with wheels) new.

Pockets are why I primarily use a water flosser. It’s amazing how many little specs of food & debris get lodged between gums and teeth throughout the day.

I opted for 16GB RAM for the office computers ordered last year. My prior desktop had 8GB, which worked despite the numerous Chrome tabs I utilize, but would’ve been miserable for the 5-year “life” I’m hoping to get out of the new hardware.

Used tampons anywhere but neatly wrapped up in the trash = disgusting. Particularly since they’re left on the counter to collect.

She made the “hair spider” on the shower wall. It’s usually done to collect hair and keep it from going down the drain. Except, you’re supposed to throw it away after the shower. Not leave it hanging.

The puking. Usually in the early morning hours.

For gum health - and especially fighting gingivitis - my dentists have recommended a two-part mouthwash: Smartmouth Clinical DDS. It’s not cheap, typically $25 for the bigger bottle (32 fl oz). But it’s one of the few OTC options I’ve found that prevents gum bleeding while flossing.
